Mark recently spoke at an event in the west and shortly after that event a man who attended, reached out to Mark to share the following…Merry Christmas!

Enthusiastically,
Judy R. Adams

Hi Mark,

First off, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Tim and I was a vendor that attended your session. It has taken me a while to get my thoughts together to email you after your sessions. There were a few things that you touched on that really moved me that I wanted to relay.

I took a hiatus from a job I had for 7 years to go into private real estate practice where I was making pretty good money. But during that time, my focus shifted to short term success rather than the long term victory. So that point of long term victory over short term success really hit home with me. Since leaving the real estate industry (due to the collapse), I have definitely started looking at the long term victory due to need for survival.

I have a wife and 3 great children (10, 8 and 5) at home. Since the dramatic cut in income, I have not only worked my every day job but also am a painting contractor in my spare time and umpire girls softball from high school on down as well as little league baseball. I work that hard in order for my family not to notice too much of a change in lifestyle due to loss of income. So it really hit home for me when you mentioned “to take time to enjoy the moment”. And even more importantly, having a balance between work and personal life. I have been working so hard, that I have been neglecting my family. Your session really made me take a look at my current life and put some things into perspective.

The most moving part of your session which hit right at home for me was the story of Cuonzo Martin. I am a college basketball fan so I had heard of Cuonzo Martin before but had never heard his story. The reason that hit home was that I had childhood cancer myself at 11 years old. And back when I was diagnosed, I was given a 10% chance of survival due to the rarity of my cancer as well the the lack of advances in treatment 30 years ago. When you relayed the story of you telling him to enjoy the moment, I must admit I teared up a bit. I realized that I need to start to allow myself to enjoy the moments in my own life and especially the wonderful moments that my kids can and do provide me with.

I believe that much of this can and will help me in my professional life but for me, it was much more powerful for my personal life. You truly touched me with your words and experiences and how you were able to present them. I apologize for writing so much as I know that you are extremely busy and my words are probably jumbled but I wanted you to know my gratitude toward your session. I hate the fact that I didn’t come up and introduce myself but it wasn’t the time or the place to get in a long discussion about my experiences. If our paths ever cross again though, I’m not going to miss my chance again.

Thank you again Mark and I’ll be seeing you on your broadcasts as I do watch a lot of college hoops. By the way, how in the heck did the Tar Heels lose to the Runnin Rebels? I guess they had to lose one to get it out of the way.

Tim
